Shenanigans

This parenting thing just gets more and more fun. Here are some of our latest shenanigans. Clare has fallen in love with peek-a-bo & hide and seek.

And She's Off!

By no means is she sprinting, but Clare Cake is up and walking! I've been trying for days to capture it on film, but her new skill is a bit camera-shy. We are having SO MUCH FUN!!!

A Bath

Some Dancing

Clare is dancing (swaying like Rainman) to anything with a beat these days. We visited my parents' house this weekend and she couldn't get enough of a polka-playing greeting card from Uncle Sam to Kissy (Clare #1). She also spent a night with Aunt Chili (Casie) who taught her to do the "tummy slap."

How to give your kid a cold...

Pool splashing in late September = sniffles in early October. Lesson learned.

Clare on Clare

Chattin' Away!

Clare is turning into a downright chatty kathy! I get to wake up to loud coos and giggles! It is wonderous!

Frankenbaby

Clare is now SITTING UP and showing the hand-eye coordination of a recently re-animated cadaver! We are so proud. Rob watched this video and compared our wee one to Ray Charles.

And Then There Were TWO!

Clare has had to start learning to share early. My brother-in-law, Joe, and sister-in-law, Gianna, had baby Bobby on March 11th. Gianna, was hospitalized March 10th with pneumonia. The doctors had to perform an emergency c-section on the 11th when they also discovered that Gianna had Cardio Myopathy. She has been at UAB Health Center in Birmingham ever since Bobby arrived. She has miraculously survived 3 open heart surgeries and is now in HTICU (heart transplant ICU) where we hope she will heal and become eligible for a heart transplant. You can keep up with Gianna's recovery on her care page.
Baby Bobby has been staying at our house and, needless to say, our daily routine has changed. During first week of Gianna's hospitalization, her sorority sisters came from all over the US to help out. They were amazing caregivers to Bobby and allowed me to keep a semblance of my routine with Clare (our nightly baths were NEVER compromised).
This week my mother, Clare #1, is here to help with the babies. I think next week Bobby will stay at his Grandma-losi's house down the street.

Here is a photo of Clare with cousin Bobby. Also, please check out my flickr page for more photos of the Guthrie babies!

Rob Plays for Clare

Rob's guitar face is oddly similar to Clare's "I'm concentrating on a bowel movement" face.
